Quantitative gender difference

The share of women-owned businesses and shops is only 26%, while the share of men in entrepreneurial activity is almost three quarters. This situation is a consequence of a large number of factors that discourage the development of women's entrepreneurship in Serbia. For the most part, women have modest private means of starting a private business, and access to the capital market is difficult for them and the conditions for obtaining a loan are very unfavorable and gender-sensitive. In addition, female entrepreneurs in Serbia are much more burdened with housework and child rearing than men, in a way that limits their engagement in the entrepreneurial business and the intensity of the work effort they put into their businesses, so women's private businesses have lower growth rates than private ones. men's business.
